Wedding Songs on a Special Day
My friends Chris and Nicole are getting married this afternoon. :)
One of the things I love about weddings is finding out what the bride and groom have chosen for their “first dance” wedding song. I know, most people like the romance of it all, the flowers, the dresses, the food even… I just can’t wait to hear what that song is.
Yep, I’m weird. It’s okay, I’ve come to terms with it.
One of my all time favorite songs for a “first dance” song is one I wrote about earlier when I first started Crooner Culture, and that’s Etta James’ “At Last”. Just perfect, in my opinion.
Another one I like is “For Once In My Life” (either the Bennett or Buble
version would do me just fine). I just love that song…
“For once in my life I wont let sorrow hurt me
Not like its hurt me before
For once Ive got someone I know wont desert me
And I’m not alone anymoreFor once I can say: this is mine you cant take it
As long as Ive got love I know I can make it
For once in my life Ive got someone who needs me”
Okay, I’m not going to get into how and why those lyrics make me cry, but they do. I love that song.
Oh, and in case you’re interested, Stevie Wonder and Frank Sinatra
also did versions of the tune.
So what are some of your favorite, crooner-style, “first dance” wedding songs?

You are absolutely right - “At Last” IS a perfect song for the first dance.
What song did your friends end up using? :)
