Vintage Art - Visit South Africa
In the days when airline travel was “new”, many tourism groups used commissioned art to entice people to visit “far off lands” like South Africa. Think Howard Hughes and TWA.
The lure of foreign lands beacons in Gayle Ullman’s vintage travel poster “Mystic South Africa.” The giraffe’s exotic silhouettes and deep reflections are burnished in warm sepia shades. The nostalgia and tranquility of this luminous poster will transport travelers, animal lovers and art collectors alike. - AllPosters

I simply LOVE this print. As you may or may not know, I’m a certified exotic animal care tech (though I’ve been non-practicing for about six and a half years now), and one of my major goals in life is to get to Africa someday to see the animals in the wild. This print just makes that passion and dream stronger when I see it. :)

Hi, Lara,
Wow! an exotic animal specialist! I should put you in contact with my daughter, who did a semester abroad in Zimbabwe and Zambia pre-election problems. She took LOADS of photos, including some of the rare black rhino and other endangered critters. Got extra credit for donating those photos to her college for their photo gallery.
My niece Jessica is in Kenya right now–went over with the Peace Corps before THAT trouble happened. I’ll send you a link to her photos.
Very cool!

That’s amazing, Claudia!
One of the things I’ve always wanted to do is go to the Virunga Mountains (central Africa) and study the mountain gorillas. Especially before they all disappear… :(
Of course, if I had about $12000 I could go do that for a week or so. I always said that no credit card company better ever approve me for that much, because I’ll be on a flight in a hot minute. LOL
