Video Week - First YouTube Result for Dean Martin

I don’t remember if I’d written about this story before, but the first search result today for Dean Martin in YouTube gave me “That’s Amore” and every time I hear that song, I’m reminded of my silliness as a teenager.

I went to Italy for a summer exchange program when I was 16, and one night, the girls and I couldn’t stop giggling. The host father kept coming up the stairs telling us, in thick Italian, to shut up and go to sleep.

He’d close the door, and we’d start laughing. So I wanted to keep it going, and decided to try to break the language barrier by belting out this song at the top of my lungs. He’d open the door, laughing, and try to say again for us to shut up and go to bed, but he kept laughing with us. Then he’d slam the door, I’d start belting out the song, he’d open the door, and so on and so forth.

Weird how such things stick in your memory, isn’t it? That was some of the best fun I had, and it was so simple and… CHILDISH! :)
