The Velvet Fog - Mr. Mel Torme - April Showers

Did you know that Mel was nicknamed the “Velvet Fog”? In his younger years, I can see why… I’m personally not too keen on the stuff he did in the 70s and 80s, but that might be just because when I was growing up then, I thought of him as “old lady music”. LOL

Here’s a piece of rare footage of the fogginess himself singing “April Showers” circa 1950(ish):

As one of the commenters on the YouTube page for this said: “Not bad for guy who hung around a drugstore on the southside of Chicago.”
