EXCLUSIVE: eTalk’s Lainey reveals identity of Michael Buble’s mystery lady

I broke the news of this a few days ago, and I can’t find any pics of this, as mentioned below, of Michael and this… this… “Heather”. *sigh* But here’s the dish anyway:

Moments ago, eTalk’s Lainey was the first to reveal the identity of the beautiful brunette recently spotted canoodling with Canadian crooner Michael Buble. Indie musician Heather Fogarty was photographed getting cozy with the multi-platinum artist last week on Vancouver’s trendy Robson Street.

The Boston native sings and plays keyboards for indie group “On The Surface,” an LA-based band with a solid Myspace following. eTalk was the first to show exclusive photos of the pair together, after breaking the news that Buble’s relationship with actress Emily Blunt is over.

Tune in weeknights to eTalk, the Most-Watched Canadian Entertainment Newsmagazine, at 7 p.m. ET on CTV (check local listings on CTV.ca).

She’s just a rebound chick anyway… she can have him for now. ;)

Bobby Vinton and Akon - Mr. Lonely

Okay, I went to do some research on the Bobby Vinton song “Mr. Lonely” because I had remembered that Carlton on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air once slow danced with Tyra Banks to it. Yes, I have that amazing talent, to recall various music and television or movies that play clips of these awesome songs.

So anyway, I’m not an Akon fan. I’m not a hater, but I just don’t enjoy that kind of music usually. I did, at one point in my life, enjoy Tupac and maybe Cypress Hill or Onyx and stuff, but really, nowadays, I’m just “too old souled” I guess. But when I did this search, I found that Akon did a remake of Bobby Vinton’s song. And I find that downright kinda awesome. He used a sped-up clip of Vinton in the remake.

Here’s the original, with lyrics posted to follow: Read More

Bobby Vinton was “Blue” - Did You Know?

After the success of “Blue on Blue” (#3 in mid-1963), Bobby Vinton decided to record an LP of “blue” songs (”Blue Moon,” “Blue Hawaii,” “Am I Blue,” etc). As he was picking up sheet music in Nashville, Vinton received a gift from publisher Al Gallico, a copy of “Blue Velvet”.

Long before Vinton recorded “Blue Velvet”, it was a major hit for Tony Bennett. His version came out in 1951.

“Blue Velvet” was considered a throwaway, recorded in only two takes. Vinton was not impressed with the recording, but Epic Records released it as a single in response to popular demand.

In 1986, a movie called Blue Velvet, directed by David Lynch, was released. This song had a prominent role — it was used in a gruesome scene where we discover a human ear that had been cut off someone’s head. The song completely contradicted the mood of the scene, which apparently was the point.

Vinton’s “Blue Velvet” stalled at No.33 in the UK in 1963 - however, on reissue in 1990 it peaked at No.2, and, by some amazing coincidence, at one point it occupied at chart slot adjacent to a near-namesake (Alannah Myles’ “Black Velvet”)!

Back off! He’s Mine! Michael Buble and Emily Blunt are OVER!

Oh my god… *breathing really really fast*

Michael Buble - alcoholic?

eTalk was the first to break the news that the relationship between Michael Buble and Emily Blunt is over. The news was first revealed on the show by eTalk’s Lainey on Wednesday, July 9. eTalk had the scoop two days before all other outlets, preceding an official statement issued by the singer’s publicist today.

eTalk was the first to get photos of Buble and a beautiful brunette in Vancouver, canoodling on a street corner during the crooner’s recent visit to his hometown. Buble’s publicist Liz Rosenberg confirmed to e-Talk that Michael and Emily are no longer together, adding exclusively “they remain friends.”

Find out the latest details on Michael Buble and his mystery lady tonight on eTalk, the Most-Watched Canadian Entertainment News magazine, at 7 p.m. ET on CTV (check local listings on CTV.ca).

So uh, no. The brunette in question isn’t me, but what this means is that he’s NO LONGER IN A LONG TERM, COMMITTED RELATIONSHIP. WHEEEE!

(LOL Yes, I’m that pathetic.)

Weekend Song and Drink - A few days early…

Yes, I know it’s a few days early, but today is National Piña Colada Day, and who can resist gettin’ your weekend on a little early in celebration of this great cocktail?

In trying to find a song with the drink in the lyrics, the only thing I could come up with is the Rupert Holmes song “Escape (The Piña Colada Song)” which kind of stinks because good ol’ Rupert’s not a crooner, and that song is so late-70’s it’s ridiculous. (Of course, Garth Brooks sang about “Two Piña Coladas” and I’m sure Jimmy Buffet did a song or two involving the creamy coco-nutty beverage, but neither of them are crooners either.)

What I did find was a reference to the movie Dirty Dancing (Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Gray) called “Johnny’s Mambo”. For some reason, a search in YouTube for “pina colada movies” brought that up, and since the setting for the film was the early 50’s, well, it’s the best connection I could make! (Can’t say I don’t try!) I don’t personally remember anything from the movie involving piña coladas though… do you?

So here’s the clip from the movie (the final dance scene, which is apparently “Johnny’s Mambo”, that he describes earlier as “not really a mambo”), and after, a great recipe for a tasty colada, (image and recipe) courtesy of TheBar.comRead More

Independence Day Weekend Music Channel Link Love! July 6, 2008

If you have hyper or overactive children, and you’re into yoga or meditation, you might want to check out Nina Patel’s new CD “Mantras for My Children and Yours” (New Age Vibe)

Most people know that Stevie Ray Vaughan named his 1965 Fender Stratocaster after his wife, Lenora “Lenny” Vaughan, but where did he get it and where is it now? The Rock Dose knows… and tells!

There’s some Jerry Springer-esque craziness going on that involves Madonna, A-Rod, and Lenny Kravitz. Oh boy… (Pop Music Scene)

What it would be like to be Miss Alicia Keys, who’s apparently planning to retire at 30 and travel the world! Okay, I’m a year older than that and I’m totally jealous. (Rumors in Music)

I love you for sentimental reasons - Julia Nunes on Ukulele.

Okay, I discovered Julia Nunes over the weekend, cause someone told me to look her up in YouTube and I’m just seriously having a major girl crush on this chick! LOL

Seriously, I know, she’s a ukulele player and you might think that’s kinda strange, but OH MY GOD she’s really good at it, her voice is great, and she’s just adorable. Besides, ukuleles are Hawaiian instruments, and back in the 40’s and 50’s, people loved Hawaii. So there. :P

Okay, okay… So here’s Julia’s video where she’s opening up her new uke and singing “I Love You For Sentimental Reasons”, which was also well known as being sung by both Ella Fitzgerald and Nat King Cole (I put a YT vid of him at the end): Read More
