Michael Buble Rumors of Alcoholism

by User ImageLara on June 3rd, 2008

Michael Buble - alcoholic?Could it be possible? My future husband… an alcoholic?

Could it be that the super-skyrocket to fame has taken a toll on My Lovely Bubble?

An insider source told me that while Michael Bublé has never been much of a drinker, he may be slipping into the throes of alcoholism. While it may be very hard to believe, Michael suffers from a serious case of stage fright - yes, I know, I doubted it too - and recently took to having a drink before going on stage to relax him. He even gets all flustered when the cameras get on him, which might be why he always comes across as so adorable and cute, because he’s nervous like a little boy.

Apparently, that “one drink” has grown into more than that, as Lauren Katulka from fellow b5media blog Oz Music Scene has recently witnessed. She, and some commenters on the post, all agreed that for at least the first half of his act, he was clearly very, very intoxicated. They said that he was relying on the audience to sing (likely because he forgot the words or couldn’t get them out), he stumbled across the stage, and that the band pretty much had to “prop” him up. I simply can’t imagine…

Now, in all fairness (and maybe because I’m just such a huge fan), let’s take a look at Michael’s career thus far. The guy’s been either recording or touring NON-STOP for the past couple of years, and I think he may be getting burned out. Word has it that he didn’t expect this kind of super-stardom, he was just a guy who liked the oldies his grandfather used to play for him. He didn’t expect to become this “pop” star that he is… he wanted to be a “crooner” star.

No, I’m not saying “poor baby” because he got bigger than he thought. I’m just saying that I think that the shot to fame was wrought with dizzying success, and Michael might just need to take a little break. I don’t know if it’s him, or his agents that are pushing him to do so much all the time, but the guy really does need a break.

My message to Michael:

Dear Mike,

Listen, I know you’re tired. I can see it in your eyes.
You need to protect your voice, your sanity, and your body.

Take a year off. Realize that Emily Blunt is NOT the girl for you because I am.
Write more songs because you’re good at that.

Make your big return a year from now by announcing our engagement.
It’s okay, I won’t tell anyone until you get to tell the world first. ;)

Always,
Lara

Seriously, though. I really hope he takes some time off as soon as he can. The boozer-style doesn’t suit his personality, and he is far too adorable and talented to let it take control of his life. I remember seeing Tim McGraw on stage drunk one time, and it broke my heart. I’m SO glad I wasn’t at that show in Australia, because I don’t know what I would’ve done. Fortunately the last show I saw was over a year ago, and he was perfectly sober.

I think these young stars don’t know what to do when all eyes are on them when they weren’t expecting it. Poor guy. Hope he gets the help he needs.

It’s an act … he was Dean Martin-ing it up but it didn’t work. He sang a Martin song for pete’s sake. Didn’t anyone think it odd that he ‘recovered’ so quickly and ‘pulled’ himself together for the 2nd half of the show? He was likely trying something new out.

I just love Michael and his music. I really hope these things are not true.

I can see it too…almost in every performance, he is tired and he often seems to be drunk. He must be lonely somehow…I know it´s hard to believe but it looks like. Sex alone doesn´t replace love and care… His manager should take more care about him. And he should definite make a break.
