Kevin Spacey as Bobby Darin in “Beyond The Sea”

Alright, if you haven’t seen this movie yet, get thee to Netflix or your local video store and rent it. Kevin Spacey is an absolutely amazing actor, and proves himself as such in “Beyond The Sea: The Bobby Darin Story”.

You know, I’m always wary when a movie comes out with a modern-day actor playing the part of a legendary musician. I don’t know why, but I guess I fear that the story won’t be told in truth, or that they’ll butcher their character or something like that. I was floored when Jamie Foxx came out with “Ray” and even floored again when Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon pulled off Johnny and Roseanne Cash in “Walk The Line”. But the first movie of this kind that I fell for was Beyond The Sea. Hands. Down.

Now maybe it was the singing that got me. I mean, who knew that Jamie Foxx and Joaquin Phoenix could’ve done what they did, but until BTS came out, I had no idea that Kevin could sing at all, much less that he could sound so much like Bobby Darin!

You’re probably going to want to buy this film, or at least own the soundtrack, if you’re any kind of Bobby Darin fan like I am, so don’t wait!
