Julie London - What’s My Line
Posting this one for Brian Layman - she look stunning, and I love how she disguised her voice.
On September 29, 1957, John Daly was on vacation, so regular panelist Bennett Cerf filled in as moderator. This clip features Julie London as the mystery guest. The panelists are Dorothy Kilgallen, Ernie Kovacs, Arlene Francis, and Cesar Romero.
Whatever happened to “classy” television like this? I mean, just the other night I heard the word “ass” being thrown around on Family Guy, and yesterday afternoon I was watching some movie on TNT and the censors forgot to blurp (yes, my new word - cross between ‘bleep’ and ‘burp’ - deal widdit) out the f-bomb. Between all that, and the baseball-bat-to-the-crotch type crap on those funny home video shows - I just pretty much hate television comedy these days.
These shows (like “What’s My Line?”) prove that it’s possible to be funny and classy at the same time. I wish we had stuff like this on nowadays.

Two of my favorites - Comic genius Ernie Kovacs and sultry Julie London!
